Drywear | Building a Reliable Tracking Foundation for Smarter Ad Performance
As Drywear continued investing in paid advertising, one challenge became increasingly clear: the data being sent to advertising platforms wasn't telling the full story. Browser restrictions, ad blockers, and evolving privacy measures were preventing valuable conversion signals from reaching Meta, making campaign optimization less effective.
To solve this, a complete server-side tracking solution was implemented using Google Tag Manager Server-Side and Stape. By strengthening the tracking infrastructure and improving the quality of conversion data, Drywear was able to make better optimization decisions and ultimately increasing ROAS from 2.15x to 3.58x.
Tracking Strategy
The implementation focused on delivering accurate, reliable conversion data across the entire customer journey while creating a scalable tracking infrastructure. The solution included:
- Meta Conversion API (CAPI) implementation
- Server-Side Google Tag Manager deployment via Stape
- GA4 server-side event tracking
- Event deduplication between Meta Pixel and CAPI
- Purchase event validation and testing
- Event Match Quality optimization
- End-to-end tracking quality assurance
Challenges
Drywear's previous setup relied primarily on browser-based tracking, making it vulnerable to ad blockers, browser limitations, and privacy updates. As a result, valuable purchase events were either delayed or lost, reducing attribution accuracy and limiting Meta's ability to optimize campaigns effectively.
Without trustworthy conversion data, scaling paid advertising became increasingly difficult, as optimization decisions were based on incomplete customer insights.
Solution
A complete server-side tracking architecture was implemented to improve the accuracy and reliability of every conversion signal. Customer events were processed through a dedicated Server GTM container hosted on Stape before being securely delivered to Meta and Google Analytics.
The implementation included proper event deduplication, comprehensive testing, and validation to ensure browser and server events worked seamlessly together. This created a stronger data pipeline that delivered cleaner conversion signals, improved attribution, and provided the advertising platforms with the high-quality data needed for better campaign optimization.
Final Outcome & Impact:
With a more reliable tracking infrastructure in place, Drywear gained a much clearer view of customer behavior and advertising performance. The improved quality of conversion data enabled Meta's algorithm to optimize campaigns more effectively, resulting in a significant increase in ROAS from 2.15x to 3.58x.
Beyond the numbers, the business now has a scalable server-side tracking setup that delivers consistent, trustworthy data providing the confidence to make faster marketing decisions and continue scaling with accuracy.
